South African Airways (SAA) to relaunch in Cape Town on Thursday.
On Thursday, the government is scheduled to formally relaunch South African Airways (SAA) in Cape Town.
The occasion, which will commemorate two years since SAA started flying again, will also serve as an announcement of the start of direct service between the state-owned airline and São Paulo, Brazil.

According to Mail and Guardian, in 2021, SAA endured a tumultuous time of business rescue to prevent its complete discontinuation, which resulted in a 16-month grounding.
In order to reduce operating expenses, the airline eliminated a number of routes that would have needed a larger fleet and laid off almost 1,000 workers during that time.
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan expressed his excitement about the relaunch in a statement
“The upcoming event marks a very significant step in the resurgence of South African Airways. We look forward to the official relaunch of SAA, along with the introduction of its first intercontinental flight to São Paulo, Brazil,” Gordhan said.
