The Rustervaal Clinic in Emfuleni, serving communities including Rochnee, Springcol, and the Ramaphosa informal settlement, was temporarily closed on Monday, 7 July 2025, due to significant safety concerns stemming from infrastructural challenges.
The Gauteng Department of Health announced the closure after the Department of Employment and Labour issued a prohibition notice, citing issues such as dilapidated building sections, a collapsing ceiling, and a poor electrical network.
During the closure, patients are advised to seek medical attention at neighboring public health facilities. To mitigate the inconvenience, the Gauteng Department of Health has arranged daily transportation via the Gauteng Scheduled Emergency Transport (G-SET).
This service will transport patients to and from Rustervaal Clinic to Market Avenue Clinic in Vereeniging, Monday to Friday, starting at 8 AM.

The duration of the clinic’s closure remains uncertain, pending a full assessment of the facility and budget reallocation.
However, the Gauteng Department of Health has reaffirmed its commitment to addressing these infrastructural issues as part of a broader Infrastructure Revitalisation Plan.
