President Cyril Rampahosa has welcomed the decision by the Johannesburg High Court denying former President Jacob Zuma from privately prosecuting him.
In a statement by Presidency spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, the President has welcomed the judgement, having succeeded in interdicting his predecessor.
“The President has always maintained that Mr Zuma’s private prosecution constituted an abuse of court processes and that it was unlawful and unconstitutional.”

Zuma accused Ramaphosa of leaking his medical information and being an accessory over the leak.
However, the court ruled that Zuma abused the legal process and was guided by ulterior motives against Ramaphosa.
Zuma has also failed in his attempts to privately prosecute State attorney Billy Downer and News24 reporter Karyn Maughan.
According to Zuma, a doctor leaked a letter to Maughan, but last month, the Pietermaritzburg High Court dismissed Zuma’s case against Downer and Maughan with costs.
