Rally car driving champion, Ken Block has died in a tragic snowmobile accident.
The 55-year old founder of Hoonigan clothing was according to reports, riding a snowmobile at 14h00 on 02 January.
Block was riding down a steep slope when the snowmobile upended and landed on top of him.
He was unfortunately pronounced dead on the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the accident.
In a statement issued by his team, Block was remembered for his unbridled support for rally driving and being a pioneer in the industry.
“Ken was a visionary, a pioneer and an icon. Most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed.”
Apart from rally driving, Ken Block competed in motocross, and skateboarding and was a competitive snowboarder.
He leaves behind his wife and three children, with his 16-year old daughter, Lia following in her dad’s footsteps, as an avid rally driver.
Block was known for pushing his limits within the sport and always setting himself new challenges like “tightest donuts”, taking his rally car onto the roads of Los Angeles and of course, racing.
