A R50 000 reward has been offered to anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects who killed a German tourist at the Kruger National Park on Monday, 03 October.
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism in Mpumalanga has put forward the reward as the police have no leads to follow.
A 67-year old German tourist was shot and killed in what is reported as an attempted hijacking incident.
The group of four tourists were stopped by three armed man whilst on their way to their lodge inside the park.
According to police the gunmen had instructed the tourists to open their car doors but the 67-year German tourist, who was driving the vehicle, reportedly locked the doors.
It was then that one of the suspects shot the man through the window of the car, hitting him in the upper body.
The suspects fled the scene of the crime without taking anything from the tourists, in what has been described by the tourism sector as a senseless murder.
Initial investigations suggest that the car the tourists were travelling in continued to roll backwards for about 100 meters after the driver was shot, before crashing into a wall and coming to a stop.
Anyone with information on the suspects are urged to come forward and share the information with the Mpumalanga police.
Meanwhile SanParks has advised all tourists travelling to the Kruger National Park to avoid Numbi Road, as it is being flagged as a crime hotspot.
The Park says efforts to curb criminal activity in the area has been increased by having a higher security patrol presence and vehicle recognition cameras.
