Pope Francis says homosexuality “is not a crime,” but gay sex is “a sin”.
In an interview with The Associated Press that was made public on Wednesday, Pope Francis denounced “unjust” laws that criminalize homosexuality.
He added that the Roman Catholic Church should do more to end such laws and that bishops should welcome L.G.B.T.Q. people into the church, especially in nations where such laws are in place.
Francis argued that when it came to homosexuality, there needed to be a distinction made between sin and a crime.
