Pope Francis made his first public appearance since his release from the hospital, addressing a jubilant crowd in St. Peter’s Square.
The pope’s return, follows a significant period of hospitalisation, was met with cheers and applause from the faithful gathered.
The 88-year-old Pope, who had been hospitalised for a serious bout of double pneumonia, appeared in a wheelchair during a special Jubilee Mass dedicated to the sick and healthcare workers.

His appearance marked a significant step in his recovery, following a prolonged period of medical treatment.
Reports indicated that the Pope is still recieving oxygen, administered through nasal tubes, and that his doctors are gradually reducing the amount of supplemental oxygen he needs.
During the Mass, the Pope shared reflections on his experience with illness, emphasising the importance of empathy and support for those suffering.
