Police have apprehended seven kidnappers, rescued two businessmen who had been abducted, and seized guns, cell phones, and vehicles used in the crimes within the last week.
In Springs, Ekurhuleni, a Chinese businessman was abducted and seized on Saturday.
They were able to locate the kidnappers within 24 hours after a multidisciplinary team operationalized intelligence.
Two suspects were taken into custody on Sunday when the team stopped the kidnappers’ Audi A3 at a Lenasia crossroads. After that, the crew went to a location in Meriting, where they apprehended another kidnapper and freed the businessman.
On the 1st of December 2024, another businessman was hijacked and kidnapped in Wierdabrug, Tshwane.
The victim’s vehicle was later recovered in the area of Heuweloord. Intelligence led a multi-disciplinary team to recover the kidnappers’ vehicle, a Jeep, which was left abandoned in a garage in Nellmapius, Tshwane.
“These operations would not have been successful without the assistance of other law enforcement agencies including private security,” said the SAPS
