Police have confirmed that the human remains that were found in Rust De Winter last month belong to the murdered Pretoria journalist Aserie Ndlovu and his partner, Zodwa Mdhluli.
Ndlovu and Mdhluli went missing on 18 February 2025. Their bodies were discovered by police in Limpopo, Rust De Winter, on 8 May 2025.
Their remains were analysed and matched against samples that were taken from their biological relatives.
National Police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says the DNA analysis has been concluded and has positively linked the remains to the couple.
“A positive DNA match thus confirms that the discovered remains are those of the missing couple. The SAPS has already notified both families and is pleased to have assisted in providing closure to both families,” said Mathe.
Seven suspects arrested in relation to this case have appeared before the KwaMhlanga Magistrate’s Court on various charges including kidnapping, house robbery, and possession of stolen property.
