Nigerian Pastor and televangelist Timothy Omotoso and his two co-accused have been found not guilty of a string of charges levelled against them.
The verdict was delivered after an eight-year legal battle at the Eastern Cape High Court in Gqeberha on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.
He was arrested by the Hawks in 2017.
Gqeberha High Court Judge Irma Schoeman reportedly said the state has not proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Omotoso was facing 63 charges ranging from racketeering, human trafficking, rape, and sexual assault alongside his alleged recruiters Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani.
The Citizen reports that Omotoso was accused of grooming and molesting teenage girls. He allegedly arranged for the girls to travel to various destinations including Durban, Israel and Nigeria.
The young girls were allegedly recruited and trafficked by his two co-accused.
In August 2023 Cheryl Zondi (27) told the Gqeberha High Court that her alleged rapist, Omotoso, made her believe that raping her was the will of God.
She was one of 49 witnesses who were set to testify against Omotoso.
