Nedbank has become the most recent significant South African corporation to join the non-fungible token (NFT) trend by purchasing virtual property in Africarare’s Ubuntuland metaverse.
The land is reportedly non-existent at this stage.
According to reports, Nedbank is the 5th largest bank in Africa, and the first financial institution from the continent to join the metaverse race.

The bank claimed it became the first African financial services organization to enter the metaverse by securing a 12 x 12 village with 144 plots in Ubuntuland.
“This forms part of the financial services group’s strategy to lead in digital, go beyond banking, discover new marketing platforms and leverage new technology to better serve its customers and stay at the forefront through forward-thinking solutions,”
“Nedbank joins global players such as DBS Bank, HSBC, JP Morgan, and Fidelity Investments who have partnered with metaverses globally.” said Nedbank.
The Nedbank village will reportedly provide a variety of experiences, including virtual gaming, a sports café, and more.
