Police have confirmed a 30-year old is set to appear at the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 31 July, after allegedly burning his girlfriend to death.
This comes after police responded to a burning vehicle on 07 March, on the corner of Brand and Swart Streets in President Park, Midrand.
On arrival, officers found a Mercedes Benz on fire, and once the blaze was extinguished, human remains were discovered in the front seat.
Extensive investigations led police to confirm the identity of the victim, and a warrant of arrest was then issued for the woman’s boyfriend.
According to police the suspect was apprehended after he fled to Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.
Police arrested the suspect on Friday, 28 July after being traced, and he faces charges for murder and arson.
Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo says the investigation continues.
