The case against Ace Magashule, the suspended secretary-general of the African National Congress (ANC), and 16 other defendants has been postponed to January 20 of the next year.
Magashule and the other co-accused petitioned the Supreme Court of Appeal to reverse a Bloemfontein High Court decision that denied his request to have the case dismissed, leading to the postponement.
Magashule has complained about the postponement, claiming that it hurts his prospects of being chosen for a key role in the ANC.

There are numerous counts of fraud, corruption, and money laundering against Magashule and his 16 co-accused.
When asked whether he will accept any nomination at the upcoming ANC elective conference, he said that he is going to accept the nomination.
“Once I am nominated, I am nominated. Nobody can stop me. I joined the ANC voluntarily. It is not a monopoly of any individual. The ANC is a movement of the people, I am there my brother. I will there today, tomorrow and any other day.” said Magashule.
He has asserted on numerous occasions that the case is nothing more than a scheme to ruin his political career.
His attempts to get the case dismissed and file a petition with the Supreme Court of Appeal appear to have failed.
Due to the situation, he was removed from his post as ANC secretary-general. Before the case is resolved, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) warned that it may take years to finalise the case.
