Police in Maake, Polokwane have arrested a 40-year-old man who handed himself in after shooting and killing a 30-year-old male on allegations that he was having an affair with his wife.
The incident occurred at Sofaya Village, in the Maake policing area, on Saturday, 11 January 2025 at around 3:15AM.
According to information provided to the police, the suspect and his wife were reportedly involved in a confrontation over relationship issues, which led them both to visit the victim’s residence. Upon arrival, the victim opened the door, and he was immediately shot at and collapsed.
Paramedics were called together with the Police. The victim was certified dead at the scene. His identity is still withheld pending further investigations.
Police opened a case of murder for investigations.
The suspect then handed himself at Maruleng satellite Police Station. His firearm was confiscated.
The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Police, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has condemned the incident and encouraged couples to solve their issues without killing anyone.
Police investigations are continuing.
