
Gugulethu Mfuphi to #Trek4Mandela at Mount Kilimanjaro.
Kaya Biz host Gugulethu Mfuphi has joined the 2023 climbers of #Trek4Mandela who will for six days be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.

She has partnered with The Imbumba Foundation’s Caring4Girls Trek4Mandela initiatives which will be raising funds to address the period poverty still experienced by many girls in South Africa and the rest of the world.
Innovative social entrepreneur Richard Mabaso who founded The Imbumba Foundation, spoke about how Trek4Mandela all started in 2010.
“We started an initiative to climb Mount Kilimanjaro which has seen over 300 people summit the rooftop of Africa to support the Caring4Girls an initiative, which through CSI support we try to keep girls in school by way of providing much needed sanitary support.”
The initiative by the The Imbumba Foundation offers sanitary towels, puberty education, and menstrual hygiene support to adolescent girls, through Trek4Mandela.
Speaking at the 100 day countdown event towards the climb at the JSE (Johannesburg Stock Exchange), Gugulethu Mfuphi spoke about the importance of prioritizing female health care.
“As business and members of society, we often talk about gender parity in the workplace, and women having equal treatment in the workplace.”
“It is also important that we address female healthcare as this fundamentally contributes to who we are as society.”
“If we get it right for school girls, hopefully it will translate to their live in tertiary and later on in their live.” said Mfuphi.

The expedition will comprise of two climbs. The first will be on Mandela Day, July 18 while the second climb will be on August 9 in celebration of Women’s Day.
It will be led by renowned South African adventurer and motivational speaker, Sibusiso Vilane – the first black African to conquer the three Poles challenge: South Pole, North Pole and Mount Everest.
