- Police in Tshwane are investigating a possible serial killer after a fourth burnt body of a woman was found near Waltloo train station.
- The murders, with three similar cases reported between June and July 2025, have left Pretoria residents fearful.
- No arrests have been made yet.
Gauteng police have intensified investigations in Pretoria East following a chilling pattern of murders targeting women, sparking fears that a serial killer may be on the loose.
On Monday afternoon, the charred body of a woman was discovered near the Waltloo train station. This is the fourth such case in recent weeks.
Between June and July 2025, three other bodies were found between Waltloo and Denneboom train stations.
The disturbing trend has left Pretoria residents on edge.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed that no arrests have been made but assured the public that a dedicated task team is working tirelessly to crack the case.
“The task team established to investigate the murders is working around the clock, following possible leads to trace the perpetrators. The team comprises seasoned detectives, crime intelligence, forensic, and crime scene experts,” Muridili said.
While police have not yet confirmed the presence of a serial killer, they are actively investigating the possibility of serial murders.
