- The Provincial Portfolio Committee has expressed deep concern and extended condolences as police investigate the motive behind the attack.
Gauteng province has been described as a crime scene as gun violence continues to claim more lives day in and day out.
The Provincial Portfolio Committee on Community Safety says it is deeply concerned by the increasing levels of gun violence that continue to wreak havoc and leave families reeling across the province.
This comes after yet another fatal mass shooting that claimed 12 lives in Pretoria West on Saturday.
“The recent mass shooting in Saulsville, Pretoria, is yet another painful reminder of the urgent need to rid our streets of illegal firearms,” said the Committee’s chairperson, Bandile Masuku.
Masuku says it is even more distressing that among the deceased were three minors and women whose lives were cut short brutally.
“The Committee conveys its heartfelt condolences to the affected families and wishes a speedy recovery to the injured.
This tragic incident highlights a deeply concerning trend in which illegal guns continue to circulate freely within communities, enabling deadly attacks that devastate families and compromise the safety of citizens,” Masuku added.
The motive behind Saturday’s mass killing is not yet known, and the matter remains under police investigation.
