Former Speaker of Parliament Dr Frene Ginwala has passed away at the age of 90.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has announced the passing of the first democratic Parliamentary Speaker, Frene Ginwala.
Ginnwala died aged 90 after suffering a stroke two weeks ago.
Ginwala actively participated in securing backing from the world community, and in 1987 she was qualified to offer advice to the director general of UNESCO on the organization’s peace and research program.
She penned papers discussing the value of imposing sanctions on the government that practised apartheid.

Ramaphosa wrote about her contribution to the liberation of South Africa on social media.
