Johannesburg Emergency Services worked hard to bring a fire at Protea Gardens Mall in Soweto under control.
The fire broke out inside two shops and fortunately there were no reports of injuries.
According to the manager of a butchery at the mall which caught fire, Asif Farrah, the fire started around 20h30 on Wednesday, 24 August and reignited at around 04h00.
“From the information that we got, the fire started inside the mall, so we’re still waiting for further information from the investigation. Most of the damage to the butchery happened in the storeroom area.”
