According to a report by TechCrunch, using these specialized profiles will enable users to select a specific Facebook feed for friends and a totally different profile for work colleagues.
“To help people tailor their experience based on interests and relationships, we’re testing a way for people to have more than one profile tied to a single Facebook account. Anyone who uses Facebook must continue to follow our rules,” said Facebook spokesperson Leonard Lam.
Lam also stated that with multiple profiles, Facebook hopes users will create separate identities for their different interests, like gaming, travel or food,
The TechCrunch report also shared that these new profiles won’t need to contain their true names, users can select any username and profile name as long as they are original and do not contain any digits or special characters.
