The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has slammed Acting Public Protector (PP), Kholeka Gcaleka’s report on President Cyril Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala “criminal activity” as nonsensical.
In a statement issued after Gcaleka cleared Ramaphosa of any misconduct in the Phala Phala saga, the EFF said the Acting PP’s report was illogical and nonsensical.
This after the Section 89 panel found prima facie evidence that Ramaphosa had violated his role in office in the concealment of the theft of $4 million from his Phala Phala farm.
“The President of South Africa, stands accused of money laundering, kidnapping, bribery and misuse of state resources to pursue the recovery of millions of Dollars which he kept illicitly at his Phala Phala farm.
As a result he is palpably culpable for violating the Executive Members Ethics Act (EMEA), as he actively participated in work to generate profit as a member of Cabinet.
In the past year, Ramaphosa has been exposed to have undermined the laws that regulate the entrance and managing of foreign currency, and all financial transactions that pertain to the exchange of foreign currency in South Africa.
To date, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has no record of the declaration of the millions of Dollars which entered South Africa under the pretense of the sale of game.”

In her report, Gcaleka concluded that while they looked into the president’s involvement in the incident, they couldn’t find any solid proof connecting him to any crimes.
These included allegedly torturing several suspects for their alleged involvement in the theft of several millions that was allegedly hidden in the couches at the President’s Bela Bela farm.
