Ramaphosa has approved a 3% salary raise for public office bearers backdated to 2022.
All public office holders will receive a 3% pay raise retroactive to April 2022, according to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
Judges, magistrates, and traditional leaders, members of parliament will have their salaries adjusted.
The Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office-bearers made suggestions that were considered in the judgment.

The commission had recommended a 3.8% wage rise for the fiscal year 2022–2023, but the president decided to approve a 3% raise instead in light of the nation’s economic difficulties.
Presidency made the announcement in a statement.
“The Commission recommended 3.8% salary increment for all public office bearers including members of the Independent Constitutional Institutions, Judges, Magistrates and Traditional Leaders for the financial year 2022/2023.
Having considered the Commission’s recommendations and serious economic challenges facing the country, the President has decided that the salaries of all public office bearers be increased by three percent.” read the statement.
