EFF MP Naledi Chirwa ordered to buy two EFF gazebos for missing session in Parliament.
EFF MP Naledi Chirwa who neglected to fulfill her parliamentary responsibilities and neglected to inform the party of her unwell newborn child has been fined to buy two EFF gazebos by the party.
Her apology comes after Julius Malema, the leader of the EFF, promised to hold MPs accountable for their lack of attendance at the vote to impeach Western Cape Judge President John Hlophe on February 21.
On the day a total of 11 EFF Members of parliament were absent.
A public discussion on social media regarding the predicament of working mothers has been spurred by Chirwa’s apology and circumstances.

Chirwa gave details on the reasons for her absence and committed to fulfill the terms of her reprimand, in the form of purchasing 2 gazebos by the 28th of March.
“This has no bearing on my commitment and dedication to my beloved organisation and South Africans. I do not doubt my commitment to the movement of the people and the responsibility we have been entrusted with in the Parliament of South Africa. This is the primary reason why I went on maternity leave a day before I gave birth and returned 2 months prior to the lapse of my maternity leave.”
“I will duly fulfil the reprimand set by the organisation for my absence on the day to purchase 2 gazebos before the 28th of March, and second to that, to publicise this apology as I have done”
