On Wednesday night in Midrand, there was a collision reportedly involving vehicles belonging to the Presidential Protection Unit of Deputy President DD Mabuza on the N1 between Allandale and New Road.
According to the SAPS, Deputy President David DMabuza was not in the Presidential Protection Unit vehicles that collided on the N1 North.

According to police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe, two members of the deputy president’s security detail sustained minor injuries.
“Two members attached to the deputy president’s security detail sustained minor injuries and were transported to a Johannesburg hospital for further medical checkups. Only the deputy president’s motorcade was involved in the collision.
“We can confirm that the deputy president was not in any of the vehicles at the time of the accident. The injured members were later cleared and discharged from the medical facility.” said Mathe
During the Gala Dinner, ANC Treasurer General Paul Mashatile apologized for the party’s deputy president David Mabuza’s inability to attend tonight’s gala dinner owing to other engagements as he ascended the stage at the event taking place at Nasrec.
It is not clear why Mabuza was not part of the convoy or what other commitments he was doing when his motorcade got involved in an accident.
This weekend, the African National Congress will convene its national policy conference in Nasrec.
