Popular South African Chef, Lentswe Bhengu has passed away.
His family confirmed his passing through a statement on Wednesday.
“It is with great sadness that we acknowledge the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Lentswe Bhengu-Mafoko fondly known to the media and his culinary family as Chef Lentswe.”
Lentswe suffered a short illness and passed away last night, 28 February 2023 at Sandton Medi-Clinic.
His family shared a scripture from Revelation 21:4 during this challenging time.
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be morning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
The Mafoko and Bhengu families welcome prayers and have requested “privacy to mourn the loss of their beloved son.”
Details of his memorial service will follow in due time.
Born in KwaZulu Natal, Lentswe Bhengu began his career in corporate before quitting to pursue his passion for cooking. In 2010 he enrolled at The Culinary Academy in the Cape Winelands.
After graduating, he quickly rose through the ranks and made a name for himself in the culinary scene. Bhengu has made appearances on a number of food shows, including The Great SA Bake Off (presenter), Flava Queens (host), and Cheeky Palate.
