Eighteen days since rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was gunned down in an apparent hit on Florida Road, Durban and there have been no arrests for his or Tebello Motsoane’s murders.
This despite Police Minister, Bheki Cele saying there had been ‘significant progress’ in AKA’s murder investigation a few days ago.
On Friday, Cele was interviewed on Newzroom Afrika and asked why the South African Police Services haven’t closed in on the rappers killers yet?
Cele said the investigation is still in progress and while he couldn’t disclose what the progress is, the investigation is headed by the Organised Crime Unit in KwaZulu-Natal.
“Well the investigation is going on, I spoke to the provincial commissioner, he’s headed by the Organised Crime Unit in the province of KwaZulu-Natal, he’s following directions. It does look like they have directions to follow.”
The Minister said police were being thorough before they act on impulse with this case in particular.
What has been disclosed thus far is that a number of people in both KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng have since been interviewed by police.
Analysts are going through a number of CCTV videos from different establishments on Florida Road.
A number of cellphones has been collected by police in order for data to be collected and sifted through.
