The system failed Joslin Smith.
This was the sentiment on social media after the Andrews family came out to share that they loved and cared for the missing 6-year old from Diazville, Salandha Bay as their own.
Natasha and Lional Andrews have been trending across TikTok and Facebook on Monday, 18 March since they dispelled the notion that Joslin wasn’t loved.
In a video that was shared on TikTok over the weekend, a heartbroken Natasha expressed that she and her husband cared and loved Joslin as one of their own children.
The couple who have an older daughter shared pictures of Joslin in happier times, taking road trips with their family and celebrating her birthday and other special occasions.
Longing to provide a stable and loving home for Joslin, the Andrews reportedly tried many times over the years to officially adopt the green-eyed girl, but were unsuccessful.
The Andrews family had according to charty organisation Hashtag SA Unite, taken care of Joslin’s needs such as clothing, school supplies, and ensured that she looked like a princess in her blue debutant ball gown which they had made for her.

Natasha Andrews said people were creating a false narrative of Joslin online by creating the perception that the child was neglected, uncared for and didn’t know love but this wasn’t the case.
Natasha shared how she took Joslin into her home as her own, sharing that the child was loved by her and her husband as well as her daughter.
“I loved Joslin like my own child.
Someone brought to my attention on TikTok that people are saying there was no one there for Joslin.
That’s when I decided that my name must come out. My name must come out, so people can know that Joslin was loved, and she loved us.
We were there for her, and we did everything we could for her. She was like another child in our home.”
