KZN Emergency Medical Services spokesperson Robert McKenzie said eight children and two adults died in the crash.
“The rescue teams are still at the scene trying to extricate bodies as the bakkie is trapped under the truck. I have learnt from experience to wait until the work is done and everyone is accounted for, then I can give an informed number of fatalities and injuries.”
