The cast and crew of ‘Muvhango’ have all officially been vaccinated against COVID-19.
About 200 people from the production got their jabs on Wednesday. Health Minister Dr Joe Phaahla and Gauteng’s Health MEC Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi were pictured at the vaccination drive.
Gauteng MEC of Sports, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Mbali Hlophe, also attended.
“The more vaccinated people, the more this will boost the country’s economy, especially the creative and sports economies opening up for bigger sporting events, concerts, and music festivals,” ‘Muvhango’ wrote in a statement shared on social media.
Those vaccinated at the pop-up vaccination site included directors, actors and production personnel.
The show’s publicist, Thanduxolo Jindela, says they will continue to shoot with added COVID-19 security onset.
“Safety and necessary health procedures remain the top priority.”

Did ‘Muvhango’ force the cast to get the jab?
According to the Sunday World, ‘Muvhango’ creator Duma Ndlovu gave the cast and crew an ultimatum.
Sources claimed show officials said they could lose their jobs if they did not get vaccinated. One mole claimed that some cast and crew feared the vaccine could alter their DNA or cause them to lose their libido.
But not everyone was against the jab. Some crew members said they support Duma’s alleged “no vaccine, no contract” demand.
“There are so many actors who died of COVID-19-related complications since… they should learn from that,” the mole told the publication.
Shona Ferguson is among the stars who sadly passed away due to COVID-19 related complications. The Ferguson Films founder died in July at the age of 47.
The ‘Muvhango’ production team reportedly lost millions of Rands as a result of some cast and crew falling ill. The team had to change shooting schedules, according to the Sunday World.
‘Muvhango’ was mum on the alleged ultimatum but stressed that the show was committed to creating a “healthy and safe work environment”.
