SAMA-award-winning hip-hop artist Shane Eagle is back with a brand new album titled Akira to rave reviews following a two-year hiatus.
In an interview with GQ South Africa, Eagle opened up about how his journey in rap has shaped him into the man he is today.
“My journey in rap has equipped me with so much knowledge in balancing business and leisure. Rap has protected me in my moments of grief, and gave me the platform to help me heal myself and those around me, it has shielded me in so many ways. It’s provided me with a ground to stand on, where I can provide for my family too. It has taught me how powerful art can be in its purest form when shared across the world.”
Speaking about choosing collaborators for this project, Eagle revealed that he fine-tuned a specific frequency.
“So when going through beats, lets say older or newer, I am looking for more of a feeling than a sound. So it’s been easy for me to distinguish the difference between positive vs. negative vibrations. And my intention is to always connect with my fans through positive intention.
“When it comes to features, I always work with people who are aligned with the vision I have for my projects. And sometimes as far as my albums go, there may not be a lot of room for features because only I can truly translate my act of storytelling.”
