US Rapper Missy Elliot, 51, has been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, becoming the first female rapper to achieve this feat.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a museum and hall of fame in Cleveland, Ohio in the United States. The museum documents the history of rock music, and the artists, producers, and other figures and personnel who have influenced its development.
Taking to social media, Missy dedicated this achievement to women in Hip Hop and all the other artists inducted into the Hall of Fame.
“I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work that many of us WOMEN contribute to MUSIC.
I want to say I love you! & CONGRATULATIONS to all the other LEGENDARY artists who will now be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame,” she wrote.
“They have committed DECADES of hard work and IMPACT in music Thank you 4 Sharing your gifts with the World.”
Often referred to as the Queen of Rap, Missy Elliot has four Grammy Awards under her belt. She is also the first female rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received a Michael Video Vanguard Award for her impact in music.
