The Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar said in a statement on Sunday (Sep 8) that he will be the main attraction for the Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans in 2025.
Lamar is regarded as one of the best hip-hop artists of all time, and he confirmed this status during a rap rivalry with Drake this summer.
He’s won 17 Grammy Awards and was the first non-classical, non-jazz musician to get a Pulitzer Prize for his album “DAMN.” His most recent album, “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers,” was published in 2022.
The Super Bowl will be held at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on February 9 of the next year.
The halftime performance is usually one of the highlights of the National Football League showcase, which is the biggest yearly sporting event in the United States.
