Zimbabwean-born South African music legend Oskido recently linked up with Amapiano star Scotts Maphuma amid public backlash.
Maphuma came under fire following remarks he made about his fans during an interview with musician-turned-podcaster L-Tido.
In the podcast, Maphuma maintained that he doesn’t feel obligated to take photos with every fan.
“No one forced me to be a celebrity. I make music for the people. If I don’t feel like taking a picture, then I don’t feel like it,” he said.
“I don’t owe it to anyone. No one got me to where I am, and no one can take anything away from me except God.”
The rising star spent time with Oskido at his Daruma restaurant in Midrand. Following their meeting, Oskido posted: “Always room to listen, reflect and grow. Proud of the young king — exciting steps ahead.”
While it is unclear what their conversation was about, Oskido, who has been part of the South African music industry for decades, is well equipped to mentor Scotts, whom many fans have been calling for his cancellation.
