“About 6 years ago, the national treasury decided to centralise the procurement of mobile services, mobile voice and data services for all government entities under the Transversal tender which was called the RT15. What this meant was that all the entities of the state all had to go through the Transversal tender and procuring the service. In 2016 the award went to Vodacom, it was the single service provider at the time, it was a contract of about 5 years, fast-forward now in 2021 they again went out on a (Request For Proposals) RFP, we responded and we got the award now.”
In an official statement MTN South Africa Chief Executive, Godfrey Motsa said he and his team are very excited to serve the country by providing this important service.
“We were delighted with the very positive reaction from the RT15-2021 bid committee to our service offerings and we are so proud that a company that is South African to its very core will be delivering to our entities of the state,”he said.
