The South African Weather Services (SAWS) says Gauteng residents will have to put up with rainfall for the next few weeks.
SAWS says the wet weather is expected to persist until the end of the month. But residents can expect a few days of sunshine in-between.
It adds that most parts of the province can expect rainfall for the rest of the week and weekend while other areas will have sunshine.
There are no warnings of thunderstorms or flash floods.
Residents, especially those hoping to travel for the festive season, are urged to be vigilant on the roads.
Gauteng Weather recently reported that the province received above-average rainfall last month.

Motorists advised to be cautious on the roads
Earlier this month, Gauteng residents had to contend with heavy rain and flash floods.
SAWS reported heavy rainfall in several provinces at the beginning of the month. Mpumalanga, the Free State, the North West, Western Cape and northern KwaZulu-Natal experienced wet conditions.
On the positive side, the Vaal Dam is close to being at full capacity.
There is also rain predicted for parts of the Western Cape.
SAWS says normal to above normal rainfall is predicted for December 26 to January 1.
The weather service has meanwhile predicted disruptive rain resulting in heavy downpours and hail damage leading to localised flooding of roads, settlements and low-lying areas and bridges over the eastern parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
“Motorists are further advised that driving conditions in some areas are likely to become dangerous due to poor visibility and slippery roads. Moreover, extra care should be taken when negotiating bridges and low-water crossings known to be susceptible to flash-flooding,” Saws warns.
