South Africans will have to wait a little bit longer to find out if Shudufhadzo Musida will be crowned Miss World after the pageant was postponed.
The final ceremony was set to take place in n Peurto Rico on Thursday, December 16. However, officials were forced to cancel it due to COVID-19 concerns.
“Miss World 2021 temporarily postpones global broadcast finale in Puerto Rico due to health and safety interest of contestants, staff, crew and general public. The finale will be rescheduled at Puerto Rico Coliseum Jose Miguel Agrelot within the next 90 days,” organisers said in a statement.
Miss World officials say “additional safety measures were implemented” on Wednesday – especially on the stage and in the dressing room.
“However, after additional positive cases were confirmed (Thursday) morning after consulting with health officials and experts, the postponement decision was made.”
Medical experts decided that an “immediate quarantine” was best. Contestants and staff members will only be able to return to their home countries once they have been cleared.

She says she is proud of the project she created.
“Through ‘Mindful Mondays’ and ‘Shudu finds her Magic’ we have created a space for so many to share their stories, to listen, to learn and to start the journey towards Mental Health and Well being.”
Shudufhadzo thanked everyone who has supported her project.
“I keep on using the word “We” because it was us and I mean you(reading this) that built this. Without your constant support and commitment to this movement none of this would’ve been possible. I am humbled to have been chosen as a vessel by sharing my story with the world.”
