South Africa has lost another legend.
Condolences are pouring in for Nobesuthu Mbadu, one of the members of the award-winning Mbaqanga group, the Mahotella Queens.
The singer passed away at the Thelle Mogoerane hospital in Vosloorus, Ekhuruleni.

She died from kidney failure.

“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of one of the original members of the legendary mbaqanga group, The Mahotella Queens, Nobesuthu Mbadu. Mam’ Nobesuthu passed away at the Thelle Mogoerane hospital due to kidney failure,” read a family statement.
Mbadu died at the age of 76.
The family has asked that the country allows them to mourn in peace.
“Her family and colleagues are devastated and ask that you allow them the space and time to mourn this amazing queen peacefully and respectfully,” read the statement.
Mbadu joined the Mbaqanga group in 1964, at the age of 19, and retired in 2017 due to ill health.
