During Friday’s #OpenLine, Mpho Maboi posed a bold question: “Is Sol Phenduka’s beef with Cassper Nyovest genuine, or just a PR stunt?”
Sol responded candidly, saying:
“I have never had beef with Cassper, but he has beef with the podcast. He used that moment when we had an encounter late at night at a garage.”
However, Sizwe Dhlomo was quick to challenge Sol’s version of events.
“Let’s be honest. You guys started talking about him on your podcast. You said his album was wack and that he had fallen off.”
“Then you see him and go to him pretending that everything is good. I don’t blame him for this. You guys are now saying he’s using this for PR, but you started it. He didn’t say anything.”
Sol admitted to previously criticising one of Cassper’s songs.
“I did say ‘Kushobani is not a great song’. But in that moment, I also said I love a lot of Cassper’s songs this particular one just wasn’t it.”
Sizwe didn’t let up, pressing further:
“Then when you see him, give him that same energy.”
While Mfundo Mabalane understood Sol’s perspective, she echoed Sizwe’s point:
“We must be realists. If you’re coming for me on any platform, then you must keep the same energy. Just walk past me because when you try to embrace me, you’re expecting me to be the bigger person, and that’s disingenuous.”
The team also touched on other pressing topics, including the deteriorating relationship between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, safety concerns around scholar transport, and the recent shootout on the highway.
