Kaizer Chiefs have a rich history in the Nedbank Cup, being the most successful club in the tournament with 14 titles. Their dominance was particularly evident in the earlier years of the competition.
Here’s a breakdown of Kaizer Chief’s outstanding history with the Nedbank Cup.

Brief History of Nedbank Cup Wins:
- Early Dominance (1970s-1980s): Kaizer Chiefs established themselves as a major force in South African football, securing numerous cup victories. They won the first two titles in 1971 and 1972, and went on to lift the trophy five times between 1971 and 1979, and another four times between 1981 and 1987. This era saw them beat rivals like Orlando Pirates and Zulu Royals (now AmaZulu) in the finals.
- Continued Success (1990s-2010s): While their dominance wasn’t as absolute as in the earlier decades, Chiefs continued to add to their cup tally. They won in 1992 against Jomo Cosmos, in 2000 against Mamelodi Sundowns, and in 2006 after a penalty shootout victory against Orlando Pirates.
- Their last Nedbank Cup win before this year was in 2013 against SuperSport United.
