Mongiwa Hazel Ntuli, a University of Pretoria student, has made history by becoming the institution’s youngest-ever graduate to obtain a degree, earning her BSc in Actuarial Science at just 17 years old.
Originally from Rosettenville, Johannesburg, Hazel began her university studies in 2022 after accelerating through primary and secondary school. Her academic talents became evident from a young age.
“When I was in Grade 3, I mistakenly wrote a Grade 4 mathematics paper and scored the highest of all the actual Grade 4 students,” she recalls.
“My teacher picked up on this and allowed me to write more Grade 4 papers and I continued to perform exceptionally well.”
That early spark of brilliance set Hazel on an extraordinary academic path, placing her years ahead of her peers. Her accomplishments, she says, are rooted in faith and gratitude.
“I first and foremost attribute it all to God.”
Now enrolled in an honours programme, Hazel has no plans of slowing down.
“After this, I’m planning to both work and further my studies. I’ve always wanted to pursue an MBA.”
Her long-term vision includes qualifying as a fully-fledged actuary and eventually making her mark in the business world.
The Siz the World team recently celebrated Hazel’s remarkable journey on their platform.
