Maltabella porridge, one of South Africa’s beloved breakfast meals has officially been discontinued.
Inspired by traditional African grain porridges, Bokomo launched Maltabella, a smooth and silky sorghum porridge, in the early 1960s.
This invention gave South African households a tasty and distinctive breakfast choice. Maltabella’s became into a beloved morning ritual in many South African households.
Deborah-Ann Sharwood, a spokesperson for PepsiCo in sub-Saharan Africa, told TimesLIVE that this signifies the end of an era for a product that has been a staple of many families’ breakfast rituals for almost 50 years.
“As part of the ongoing review of our product portfolio and in keeping with our vision of being the leading food and beverage business in South Africa, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue Bokomo Maltabella.”
“We know brands such as Bokomo Maltabella have been household names many South African consumers hold close to their hearts, so we understand the disappointment that it is no longer available,” said Sharwood.
