Phophi Ramathuba is Limpopo’s first woman Premier.
In Limpopo, history was created when Dr. Phophi Ramathuba, the Health MEC, was chosen to become the province’s new premier and the first woman to fill the role. During Friday’s seventh Limpopo Legislature session in Lebowakgomo, Ramathuba was elected.

Ramathuba revealed the Executive Council members of Limpopo Province on Tuesday. Ramathuba claims that when choosing the ten cabinet members, she was influenced by ethical leadership and gender inequality.
Here are the newly appointed MECs:
- Department of Education: Ms Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya
- Department of Health: Ms Mashego Dieketseng Masesi
- Department of Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements, and Traditional Affairs: Mr Basikopo Rogers Makamu
- Department of Social Development: Ms Fulufhelo Florence Radzilani
- Department of Sport, Arts and Culture: Mr Maseko Funani Jerry
- Limpopo Provincial Treasury: Mr Mahoai Kgabo Elias
- Department of Environment and Tourism: Mr Titteree Baldwin Matibe
- Department of Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure: Mr Rachoene Sebataolo Ernest
- Department of Agriculture and Rural Development: Ms Kekana Nakedi Grace
- Department of Transport and Community Safety: Ms Mathye Susani Violet
