Residents of the neighbourhood are demanding that the mine be closed down one month after a devastating dam wall ruptured in Jagersfontein.
Unhappy locals delivered a memorandum to the mine’s owner to express their resentment. The locals claim it has been impossible for them to gather up the pieces.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Kopung Ralikontsane, The Director General of the Free State Provincial Government, who gave an update on what is being done to restore Jagersfontein while holding those responsible for the damage accountable.

It has been reported that the damage caused by the collapse of a tailings dam in the Free State diamond mining town of Jagersfontein could total hundreds of millions of rands.
Ralikontsane, gave details on how the Provincial Government was assisting the town get back on its feet.
