In conversation with Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane on extortion, bribery allegations.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Busisiwe Mkhwebane following her press briefing on Tuesday on allegations of bribery by some members of the section 194 enquiry looking into her fitness to hold office.
Listen to the full conversation here:
On Tuesday, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, a suspended public protector, made available a number of audio files that she alleges show her husband and late African National Congress (ANC) MP Tina Joemat- Pettersson discussing a bribe.
She made the audio public to support her claims that Richard Dyanti, Pemmy Majodina, Joematt-Pettersson, and another ANC lawmaker attempted to bribe her for R600,000 in order to have the Section 194 probe halted.

On why she decided to release the information
“I was not advised not to do it, I was doing it because people where second guessing me and I wanted the public to hear the truth for themselves, to make the judgement for themselves, not to be swayed and told what to think by some mainstream media. If you are a person, put yourself in my shoes, ask yourself if it was you appearing before a committee where committee members are compromised”
This is the only way I can prove my innocence
“Ï have reached a point where this is the only way I can show the public that whatever I am accused off is not true, when one person asked during the media briefing said that you are always regarded as this person who is wrong or guilty and that you will always have to prove yourself.”
Mkhwebane also gave clarity on why she disregarded a warning from the ethics committee of Parliament not to release audio recordings between her husband Mr. Skosana and Joemat-Pettersson and played clips from their March 2023 private meetings.
