On Business Update this morning, Gugulethu Mfuphi reflected on an interview she did with Calvo Mawela, MultiChoice Group CEO, on MultiChoice results published yesterday. During the conversation, they broke down how much Multichoice makes from each user.
The company has been going through a number of transitions over the years. They are no longer just a television business that produces content; they have transformed themselves into a telecommunications and technology platform, venturing into things like betting, cybersecurity, and telematics technology.
The CEO did highlight that they are looking to “beef up on their streaming activity.” While they are seeing a drop in their premium subscribers and subscriber units right across the segment, it does seem as though streaming will pick up significantly. Not only through Showmax but even DSTV at some point.
Gugulethu Mfuphi also spoke with Sizwe Dhlomo about the makers of international cooking brands “Instant Pot” and “Pyrex” having filed for bankruptcy.
