Patients at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital have been suffering from a linen shortage as the in-house laundry machines have been broken for a month.
The Gauteng Department of Health has appointed a team of technicians to address the situation caused by a shortage of linen at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.
There are mountains of unclean laundry in the hospital as a result of the facility’s washing machines breaking down. In order to resume operations and give patients clean linen, a service provider has been hired to assist with laundry machine repairs.

According to the department, a laundry service provider is currently being used to launder the hospital linens.
“As previously alluded, the facility’s laundry has an ageing infrastructure, which requires an overhaul, in the meantime we have to keep on servicing the current machinery there,” said Gauteng health spokesperson, Motalatale Modiba.
