Build One South Africa (BOSA) leader, Mmusi Maimane, has launched a nationwide Budget to the People initiative to gather citizen input on the upcoming national budget.
The seven-day campaign aims to directly engage South Africans through community town halls and a digital platform.
With Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana set to table the budget in a week, BOSA is asking citizens, “What do you want to see in the national budget?”
Maimane criticised recent budget processes, citing “political infighting” and a “deadlock” within the Government of National Unity (GNU), arguing that these issues have sidelined the needs of ordinary South Africans.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to BOSA leader, Mmusi Maimane about the Budget to the People.

“For too long, national budgets have served the connected first, and the citizens second.
“This budget is not just a financial document. It tells us who and what the government truly values. Our ‘Budget to the people’ initiative is about shifting that power back to the people of South Africa,” Maimane stated.
BOSA will also use the campaign to promote its growth charter, outlining strategies for achieving a 5% annual economic growth rate.
