Do men and women discuss the “F-word” differently? The F-word on Kaya Biz is, you guessed it, financially related topics.
Sam Beckbessinger, Personal Finance Author joins Refilwe Moloto on Kaya Biz to share insight into Sanlam’s recent research about money matters between the genders.
It turns out that men and women do talk about money differently, and there are stark differences in how this translates to better financial decision-making and positive financial outcomes.
According to Sam, there are generalisations between men and women regarding how they approach money, but the report found significant differences.
“One of the biggest stand-out findings from the report, and it’s probably quite an intuitive one is that women are a lot more stressed when it comes to talking about money.
I think the number was 37% of women say when they talk about money, the main feeling that comes up is worry, versus less than 30% of men who say the same thing.
Kaya Biz has covered topics relating to gender disparities around money and we understand that women in South Africa are playing the game in the hardest of hard modes.
We still have a significant gender pay gap in this country, and on average, women in South Africa earn about 35% less than their male counterparts.”
