Glade is honouring the exceptional women in our lives with a special series called “In My Era” on Girl Let’s Talk every Wednesday. This week Andy Maqondwana and guest host Hulisani Ravele interviewed Mpho Mkhwanazi who shared her incredible journey.
Mpho was nominated by her husband Sbu, who truly adores her for being an incredible gift to him.
“She is in her enhancing era, where she is studying towards a Doctorate in Wine. She is currently doing her Level 3 studies. She continues to push boundaries in a field that needs a whole lot more women of colour. She is doing this while being the best mom, amazing wife, caring daughter, appreciative sibling and somehow, being gorgeous at the same time!” wrote Sbu.
In her “glad era”
She spoke about how she was diagnosed with and is currently living with a rare condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (iih).
“I went to the doctor one day and he said you actually have a lot of fluid in the brain that it is going to swell. I then said what does that mean, because I have been living like this and I have been fine. Then he says, it’s either your brain is going to grow or your actual physical head is going to grow… I then saw a few more specialists who diagnosed me with a rare condition called Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (iih).” said Mpho
She shared her life’s journey stating that she is in her “glad era”, where she is choosing to be joyful even when things are not going according to plan.
