Looking for a job is not only stressful, but it can also leave you feeling rejected and anxious.
From uncomfortable interviews to a rejection letter, the job-hunting process is overwhelming, to say the least. This is especially not easy when living in a country like South Africa where opportunities are not only limited but the unemployment rate is at an all-time high.
In addition to this. the job hunting process can also be very competitive causing many candidates to resort to lying on their Curriculum Vitae.
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy asks Feel Good listeners if they have ever lied or “stretched the truth” on their CVs.
Below are the most common lies told by listeners:
- Lying about qualifications.
- Lying about the experience they have garnered.
- Lies about the skills they have obtained.
- Many also lie about their references, by putting down fake references to lie on their behalf.
- Lies about dates of employment.
- Lies about the Salaries they have received in the past.
- Lying about their job titles, descriptions and responsibilities.
- Lying about their reasons for resigning.
Embellishing your CV with little white lies might sound tempting and harmless, but trust me it’s not worth it!
You will stand a better chance by being honest and transparent with potential employers.
